Assembly of the SteamFast SF 275 steam cleaner consists of attaching the carry handle / steam gun cradle with the included screwdriver. The hose is permanently attached, so other than filling with water, the SF-275 is ready to go.

Standard tap water can be used in the SF 275, though it is recommended that distilled or demineralized water be used, in the event that this is not possible, SteamFast has included a de-scaling procedure within the manual to remove mineral build up and prolong the life of the SF275′s boiler.

Equipped with large wheels, the SteamFast SF 275 will follow you anywhere you go. The 12 foot power cord and nearly 7 feet of hose (including steam gun) ensures a wide working radius. At only 13 pounds when full of water, the SF 275 is lightweight enough to lift or carry while in use, aiding in the cleaning of windows, bedding, and other high reach places.

The SteamFast SF 275 steam cleaner heats a full boiler to operating temperature in about 8 minutes and will produce steam for approximately 45 minutes. The steam gun is equipped with a steam-on-demand trigger with continuous steam lock that reduces fatigue during prolonged steam cleaning.

Our tests showed that the SteamFast has an operating steam temperature of 212º F at the steam gun tip. This was the maximum tip temperature we could achieve, though the more important note is that the SF 275 maintains 212º F as a constant temperature, even after several minutes of continuous use. What makes this significant is that only steam at or above this temperature is able to sanitize effectively.

Hardly a home exists that doesn’t have tile of some sort, whether it be countertops, floors, or a shower surround. Steam cleaning offers an effective means of cleaning grout and sanitizing surfaces in one motion, and oh boy does the SF 275 clean grout! We restored the dirty grout in our office entryway to looking almost new – no chemicals, no hard scrubbing, just gentle agitation with a brush on the tip of the steam gun was all it took. A 5′ x 10′ area was steam cleaned in about 20 minutes.

Over the course of two months, we put the SteamFast SF 275 through a number of cleaning tasks. The only thing we encountered that it couldn’t handle was hard water deposits, though in all fairness, we’ve yet to find a method or machine that can. When it comes to mineral build up, the best defense is a good offense, and that is to practice prevention rather than relying on a “cure”.

The steam gun cradle that is integrated into the carry handle is a terrific feature. It is great to have a place to rest the steam gun while you’re taking a break or doing some other cleaning task. With a quick flick of the wrist, the hose will wrap around the body of the SF 275 and the steam gun clips right into the cradle for storage. It’s not quite so easy doing this with the power cord, but it works.

The onboard accessory “storage compartment”, on the other hand, is pointless. It is little more than a door over the reservoir cap that will hold 5 or 6 of the small brushes, unfortunately, you have to turn the steam cleaner upside down to drain the water out at the end of use. Since this task is done every time the steam cleaner is put away, that means that any brushes being stored there will be dumped out along with the water. There are other pads, scrubbers, and accessories that are needed during steam cleaning as well that don’t fit onboard, we stored all these accessories in a bag and kept it handy during use.
