We are always excited to see a Miele vacuum come in for review and the Miele Jubilee S5281 didn’t disappoint! The Jubilee is an anniversary model, celebrating Miele’s accomplishments in the vacuum industry.
As with all of its S-series siblings, the Miele Jubilee uses a 1200 watt Vortex motor and twin fan system for maximum suction power. To control all that power is a rotary dial with six settings to vary motor speed. The Vortex motor produces enough suction to handle a variety of vacuuming needs, from carpets to bare floors, area rugs to draperies, upholstery, and much more. The ON / OFF and cord rewind switches are large, well marked, and easily activated with the touch of a toe.
Performance
Our test area includes carpeting that receives a lot of daily foot traffic, an area occupied by several dogs and cats, and vinyl and tile flooring. To say that there is some hair and dirt on the floor and carpet would be an understatement. The Jubilee was unfazed by the conditions, with its 10½” wide power floor head making short work of vacuuming the test carpet. Swapping to the “parquet twister” floor head, hard surface floors were just as easily and quickly cleaned.

The handle disconnects from the wand with ease, making quick pick-ups, or switching attachments, a breeze. Combine onboard accessories with 7 feet of hose and 21 feet of power cord, and the Jubilee has an impressive 33 foot overall cleaning radius so that you can get your vacuum work done without having to search for another electrical outlet.
Miele’s revolutionary and patented dust bag is an important component of the vacuum cleaner’s filtration system. The unique HyClean™ bag is a 9-layer fortress of electrostatically charged material that traps micro-sized debris in the airtight vacuum chamber. With its spring-loaded, self-locking collar you’re never exposed to the tiny, lung-damaging dust and allergens you worked to vacuum up!
The Miele Jubilee comes with two floor heads, the SEB 217-3 Electro Comfort Floor Brush and the SBB 300-3 Parquet Twister Floor Brush. The SEB 217-3 is an electrically-driven, 10½" wide carpet tool with floating head and swivel neck design that is ideal for low-pile and medium-pile carpet care. Recommended for deep cleaning and restoring of crushed carpet nap on low- to medium-pile carpets with moderate densities. The SBB 300-3 is a mixture of polyamide (nylon) and natural hair that ensures a gentle cushion for this floor brush which makes sure that tile, wood, and other smooth surfaces are cleaned thoroughly, and with extreme care. It has a 90° rotation and is exceptionally agile at cleaning around obstacles such as table legs and in tight places.
The new flexible crevice tool SFD 20 is 22 inches (560 mm) in length, almost twice the size of the extended crevice tool SFD 10. Due to its incredible reach and flexibility, this tool is a great assistance in cleaning critical, hard-to-reach areas, for example in cars, between walls and furniture, or in other small spaces.
