As with most upright vacuum cleaners sold today, some assembly is required with the Easy Lite Cyclonic Quick Vac. Simply insert the handle into the body of the vacuum, insert and tighten the screw to secure in place. Install the hose, crevice tool, and dust brush and you’re ready to go.
The ON/OFF switch is located on the top front corner of the vacuum, while functional, it is a bit obscured by the onboard accessory holder. To vacuum floors, pull back the handle to a comfortable position while pressing on the front of the floor head. For above the floor work, the handle is left in the upright position and the hose is removed from the hose caddy.
The Easy Lite is a compact vacuum with the power of a full-sized upright. Strong suction picks up stubborn pet hair, dust, and debris from carpets, bare floors, and upholstery with ease. The bag less design of the Easy Lite reduces operating costs over the life of the vacuum cleaner.
Common consumer complaints about the Easy Lite Cyclonic Quick Vac include a messy dirt cup and extreme noise. We agree on both accounts. Due to the tapered design of the dirt cup, pet hair, dirt, and debris become lodged inside the dirt cup and must be pulled out by hand. While this design makes for a sleek looking upright vacuum cleaner, it makes for a poor functioning dirt cup. As for the noise, Dirt Devil vacuum cleaners are, generally, very loud, there’s no other easy way to say it.
Other issues with the Easy Lite are the blow molded hose and “cyclonic” action. Not only is the hose too stiff, it’s too short for any real above floor cleaning ability, and pulling on the hose can easily tip the vacuum over. We feel the claim that the Dirt Devil Easy Lite is a cyclonic vacuum is a bit overstated. The design of the vacuum cleaner lacks the internal structures of a true cyclonic vacuum that speed up air flow to propel dirt and debris from the air stream, the air flow merely enters the side of the dust cup, creating a swirling effect on the debris inside the dust cup.
And finally, the brush roll is always active. When left in one place to use the hose, the spinning brush can damage carpets, area rugs, and delicate bare floor surfaces.
Dirt Devil focuses on the entry-level vacuum market, providing capable vacuums at a reasonable price. For a basic and inexpensive vacuum that does its job, the Easy Lite Cyclonic Vacuum is certainly worth considering.
