This vacuum is easy to use and lightweight. I have owned this vacuum for several months now and have had no disappointments just raves.

I think that this is great and so convenient especially to those who have children with allergies plus it decreases the possibility of chemical contamination in the house. I totally wouldn’t mind the price if it will cause greater advantage to my family. Great review by the way.

The rainbow does take a little more effort because you have to get the water and then when finished dump the water. It is definitely worth it, though. I do not ever want another type of vacuum cleaner. I used to professionally clean houses and I have used Kirby and other brands. None of them are as good as my rainbow. It is more expensive, but it is made in USA and is very high quality and durable. I like the idea that when I have cleaned my house, I dump the dirt out with the water outside instead of leaving it in a machine and sticking it in the closet.

Coming from a CLEAN freak I can tell you this system does WORK. Yes, it takes a little more effort & I think they are TOO expensive but at least they are made in the USA and they are built VERY well & very durable. Someone who has this machine and uses it properly will probably never have to buy another vacuum again. There are other vacuums that I like but this keeps you from having to clean so often. First, use the power nozzle to get all the carpet…..Then, Start at one end of the room and use the dusting brush & floor and wall brush to dust everything floor to ceiling. Once you’ve got all the crap out of your house, you won’t have to clean nearly as often. Don’t let the water get too thick before changing it…I can definitely tell a difference in the level of dust since I’m so OCD and always checking everything to make sure it’s clean. I don’t mind going through the little extra effort knowing that everything is spic n span at the end. This is definitely NOT a lazy persons machine. Anyone who says you can get the same result from a cheap wal mart vacuum is CRAZY! After checking the hepa filter on mine after five years on both sides it is still SNOW white. I even took it OFF and ran the machine without the hepa to see if there was any increase in airflow & I noticed NO noticeable increase. This is after five years! I think water filtration vacuums are the way to go. I prefer rainbow because they are USA made, the others aren’t.

I agree with above comments. I have the same problem with Speed Sweep and the battery. Will not hold a charge and will not vaccuum for more than 15 seconds now without running down. Don’t waste your money.

Well, they offer the replacement battery now…For a whopping $39.21. And get this, they now offer the “Speed Sweep” for $49.99 instead of $99 like it was originally. So apparently at that price, I might as well be better off buying a new vacuum rather than just the battery, but since I’ve only used the thing maybe a total of 10 times before the battery refused to charge anymore, I guess I’ll be looking for a different brand because this one while the idea was great, stinks. I think I liked my dirt devil that this was a replacement for, the hand-held part was much less cumbersome and fit in tighter spaces.

The design of this particular model (6583) is such that it quickly loses suction, even without clogs or obstructions. We found that it failed upon its third use, unable to suck up the least amount of dirt. Unfortunately, we’ve found this to be common among the cheaper uprights and the Bissell line in particular. If a product is designed so poorly that it cannot maintain its function after two uses, it becomes worse than useless. In my opinion, Bissell has discovered that people would rather throw out an inexpensive vacuum cleaner after it fails than go through the hassell of having to return it for service. Never again, Bissell.

I purchased a Hoover 2-1/2 months ago (9/6/11) from Costco for $181 out the door. It ran great until the belt tension pulley jammed. It could not be repaired. Took it back and decided on the EL8501. Retail is generally around $300 or more even at the other Marts or Depot type stores. I was surprise to find it online at Costco for $199. When I took the Hoover back and got my money on 11/25/11, I was even more surprised that they had an additional $30 off so I got it for $170 plus tax. This vacuum is solidly built and does a fantastic job. The build quality is so much better than the other brands. Also, with a 5-year warranty on Electrolux versus the 1-year warranty on the other brands, I have much more confidence in the quality of this vacuum. So far it is quieter and has picked up dirt left behind from the Hoover. I did a ton of research before buying this time and I highly recommend this vacuum. Its slightly heavier but you get what you pay for. A Mercedes and BMW is heavier than a other cars too and for a reason – build quality!
