Here Are Our Top Picks Of The Best Upright Vacuum Cleaners

Miele S7

Miele S7 Cat and DogThe Miele S7 Cat and Dog incorporates swivel steering for increased maneuverability and ease of use. For your above floor cleaning needs, the S7 has a telescoping wand, handy cleaning accessories, and a twelve-foot hose neatly stored onboard. Additionally, it includes a turbo brush attachment that is ideal for cleaning pet hair from your furniture, pet bedding, carpets, car detailing, and more.

The S7 upright vacuum cleaner uses Miele’s patented, electrostatically charged, 9-layer dust bag and completely sealed bag compartment to capture and contain dust and allergens within the bag and filters where they belong, not in the air you breathe.

Other notable features include fingertip power buttons, variable suction control, bag change indicator, and an effective L.E.D. headlight. The Miele S7260 Cat and Dog upright is a quiet, high-quality vacuum, with excellent suction and cleaning ability for all surfaces. We found the S7 to be a joy to use. It actually makes vacuuming fun!

Dyson DC33

Dyson DC33The Dyson DC33 is designed to take care of all your cleaning needs, everything from bare floor surfaces to deep pile carpet and above floor tasks. Dyson pioneered bagless technology and remains the top bagless vacuum cleaner manufacturer in the industry.

At the heart of every Dyson vacuum is their patented Root Cyclone™ technology that uses high velocity air speed to separate dirt and microscopic dust from the air stream. The DC33 is equipped with lifetime, washable, pre-motor and HEPA filters.

One of the primary benefits you’ll find with a Dyson bagless vacuum is that it does not lose suction, nor does it require expensive replacement bags or filters. It also does not retain musty carpet or pet odors.

We have always been very pleased with the performance of the Dyson vacuums we’ve tested and the DC33 didn’t disappoint. It has strong suction that makes quick work of any task and it is easy to use and maintain.

LG Kompressor LUV300B

LG LUV300BThe LG LUV300B Kompressor™ easily makes our Best Upright Vacuum Cleaner list because it rivals the performance of a Dyson at a significantly lower price.

We love its compressor feature, something that no other bagless vacuum cleaner has. It’s basically a compressor paddle within the dust bin that compacts the contents into neat, dust free cakes that easily and cleanly drop out of the dust bin when it’s time to be emptied. The compression system also makes the 300B capable of holding up to 3 times more dirt and pet hair than other bagless vacuum cleaners.

The LG LUV300B is perfect for larger homes with wide open areas. The wide floor head and generous power cord make short work of these expanses. With its integrated hose, extension wand, and onboard tools, the 300B gives you a massive 54 foot cleaning radius so that you can vacuum longer without needing to move the power cord to a new location.

Dyson DC25

Dyson DC25Dyson has always taken a different approach when it comes to designing their machines. Rather than simply having the floor head swivel to improve maneuverability, Dyson created the DC25 Ball™ upright vacuum cleaner. The ball keeps the center of gravity low, making the vacuum more nimble and lightweight in your hand.

You will enjoy the standard DC25 features such as the quick-draw wand, long hose, and onboard tool selection which are great for stairs and all above floor tasks. The DC25 Animal includes a turbo tool and other pet related accessories to aid in cleaning dog and cat bedding, hair on furniture, and more.

Dyson vacuums, the DC25 included, are so effective at capturing dust and allergens that every Dyson upright and canister vacuum is approved by both the British Allergy Foundation and the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of American. You will breathe easier with a Dyson DC25 cleaning your home.

Bissell Lift-Off Multi-Cyclonic

Bissell Lift Off Upright VacuumThe Bissell 89Q9 is a multi-purpose vacuum with a twist, it is both an upright vacuum cleaner and a canister vac, all in one neat and stylish package. For general cleaning, you will find that the Lift Off performs well on carpets of all types and densities. An integrated hose and accessory tool set provide you with a reach of up to 9 feet.

Where this vacuum shines is when the going gets tough! Decouple the vacuum’s lightweight canister from the chassis and you can take it anywhere. We enjoyed the freedom of mobility that the canister portion provides. You will find many cleaning tasks much easier, including stair work, using a vacuum that is half the size and weight of a “full-sized” vacuum, yet with full-sized vacuum power.

Shark Navigator and Navigator Lift-Away

Shark NavigatorShark Navigator Lift-AwayThe Shark Navigator, and it’s sister the Navigator Lift Away make our Best Upright Vacuum Cleaner list because both are compact, lightweight, and versatile vacuum cleaners.

They are effective on both carpet and bare floors. Their small size makes for easy storage in your kitchen pantry or broom closet where it’s handy for daily spot cleaning, picking up pet hair, dust bunnies, or dry spills.

The LiftAway, like the Bissell 89Q9, is a dual vacuum. A small, lightweight upright vacuum cleaner as well as a compact canister vac. We like that the Lift-Away is only 12.8 pounds in full trim, much lighter than most other vacuums. To use the canister by itself, it becomes a very manageable 7.5 pounds.

Their compact size make the Shark Navigator Lift-Away and the Navigator well suited to small apartments and homes, or as a second vacuum to clean multi-level homes. They are also the perfect size for an RV.

    • Yes, the LUV300B is one of our favorites. We used it for over a year on a near daily basis and it performed beautifully. Biggest drawback is that it is very heavy. You can read our full review here.
